Payment network, Strike, has announced integrations with Shopify, alternative payment processor Blackhawk Network, and point-of-sale provider NCR, making it easier for global merchants to accept BTC payments.
BTC payments will be converted into dollars quickly via the Bitcoin Lightning Network, a second layer built on top of the Bitcoin blockchain, relieving merchants of complexities associated with actually holding Bitcoin.
With this integration, the mainstream adoption of Lightning Network and therefore cryptocurrency has been boosted massively.
Strike CEO, Jack Mallers, explained that any website using Shopify online card transactions can use the Lightning Network for BTC payments. With this service available to anyone with an LN-enabled wallet, Shopify will be able to take advantage of previously untapped global markets and higher purchasing power, as well as save money with low-cost payment processing.
As Strike’s integration expands into offline retailers as well, such as Walmart and McDonald’s, it could accelerate the global adoption of Bitcoin to extraordinary heights and even reduce volatility in the number-one digital currency’s price.
Mallers stated that over 400,000 storefronts will now accept Bitcoin through the Lightning Network, and new merchants are welcome to this new era of digital currency integration. In this video below, Mallers checks out of a Chicago grocery store using Bitcoin payment.
What was once hard to imagine is now becoming a reality. This adoption will attract millions of storefronts across the US to accept Bitcoin soon. Other countries may imitate after seeing the success of this nation-state’s Bitcoin usage.
